1st International Synod of People with Down Syndrome

The 1st International Synod of people with Down syndrome will take place on Wednesday 19th August the day before the main Congress begins.

The purpose of the Synod is to give adults and young people with Down syndrome an opportunity to meet their peers from across the globe and to discuss issues that affect their daily lives.

The topics that will be discussed at the Synod are:
· Employment Opportunities
· Living in the Community

The format of the Synod will be parliamentary style, where speakers will introduce topics and then open the floor to discussion and debate.

The Synod will be held in the historic setting of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham and will be followed by a formal reception. Return transport will be provided between the main Congress Venue and the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.

Delegates who are taking part in the programme for adults with Down Syndrome have the option of taking part in the Synod. Simply check the option for the Synod on the registration form. There is no additional fee for attending the Synod, but delegates must pre register for this important event.

Delegates that register for the Synod will receive further information on the Synod and the topics being discussed in advance of the Congress.

If you are an adult with Down syndrome and have an opinion on these issues, please sign up to attend the Synod.
