1st International Synod of People with Down Syndrome
The inaugural International Synod of people with Down syndrome will take place on Wednesday 19th August the day before the main Congress begins. This prestigious and high profile event will give adults and young people with Down syndrome an opportunity to meet their peers from across the globe and to discuss issues that affect their daily lives including employment and living in the community. The format will be in a parliamentary style and the synod will be afforded appropriate recognition by political representatives in Ireland. Read more

20th – 22nd August

Main Conference
A full conference programme for adults with Down syndrome is being developed by a committee of adults with Down syndrome. Activities will include workshops on self advocacy, music & drama, personal development, internet training and sports. Conference delegates will also have the option to attend the welcome reception, cultural evening and Gala Dinner. Preliminary Programme now available click here

Achievements
In Dublin 2009 during the congress we plan to show-case the talents and achievements of people with Down syndrome. We invite submissions from people with Down syndrome in the area of the arts, physical endeavour, education or in any other area that is deemed appropriate.
